Linsly Students Named AP Scholars by College Board®

The students, including sixteen from the graduated class of 2025, and five from the current senior class of 2026, have earned the designation of AP Scholar in recognition of their exceptional achievement on the college-level Advanced Placement Program (AP) Exams.

The College Board's Advanced Placement Program® (AP®) enables willing and academically prepared students to pursue college-level studies – with the opportunity to earn college credit, advanced placement or both – while still in high school. Through AP courses in 40 subjects, each culminating in a rigorous exam, students learn to think critically, construct solid arguments, and see many sides of an issue – skills that prepare them for college and beyond. 
 
Students took AP Exams in May 2025 after completing challenging college-level courses at their high schools.
 
The College Board recognizes several levels of achievement based on a student's performance on AP exams.

Five Linsly students qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award by earning an average grade of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. These students, from the graduated Class of 2025 are Rocco D’Aquila attending Northwestern University, Caroline Higginbottom, attending Swarthmore College, Dylan Lucas attending Ohio State University, Olivia Rosenthal attending the University of Michigan, and Fangrui Zhang attending University of Wisconsin-Madison.
 
Three Linsly students qualified for the AP Scholar with Honor Award by earning an average grade of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. Heesoo Choi and Cameron Fowkes, attending West Virginia University, from the graduated class of 2025 received this honor and Sophie Toma from the senior class of 2026 also received this designation.

Thirteen Linsly students qualified for the AP Scholar Award by completing three or more AP Examinations with grades of 3 or higher. Students from the graduated class of 2025 receiving this distinction are:
Ava Bartlett, attending Tulane University, Colby Gibbons, attending Purdue University, Addison Grubler, attending West Virginia University, Alana Inthirath, attending Duquesne University, Jessica Lehrke, attending St. Vincent College, Caroline Martin, attending Ohio State University, Andrea Moreno, attending Muskingum University, Jessica Nissley, attending Kent State University and Katerina Spanos, attending Ohio State University. 

The students receiving this honor from the current class of 2026 are Sydney Burke, Sophia Funke, Ian Sincavich and Gavin Spadafore.

Of this year’s award recipients at Linsly, five were juniors at the time of the AP examinations and will have at least one more year in which to complete college-level work and possibly earn another AP Scholar Award. At Linsly, students have the opportunity to take AP courses in 9 different areas.
