Find Your Lollipop Moment
At today's all-school meeting, Mr. Zimmerman challenged students to be intentional about finding lollipop moments.
Mr. Zimmerman asked students a simple question, "How many of you believe that you are leaders?" While some students raised their hands, many seemed reluctant. He then went on to challenge students to redefine their definition of a leader to someone who spreads kindness. He referred to a Ted Talk by Drew Dudley about everyday leadership, who tells a story about how being kind and giving someone a lollipop changed their life. Mr. Zimmerman asked students again, if leadership was defined through kindness, how many students would then consider themselves leaders? Almost everyone raised their hands! Mr. Zimmerman then challenged students to be intentional about finding "lollipop moments" to lead through acts of kindness. He gave each student a lollipop to remind them to be kind to someone else today. Special thanks to Riesbecks Fodd Stores for providing the lollipops for our students. |
