Margaret Ragni, 1925-2018

The Linsly community is saddened by the news of the passing of former German instructor Mrs. Margaret Ragni.
Margaret Johanna Coners Ragni, age 92, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2018, following a brief illness. Born in Wheeling, WV, she received top academic honors as a member of the Triadelphia High School graduating class of 1943 and earned her undergraduate degree in English and Foreign Languages from Bethany College in 1946 and a graduate degree in Education from WVU. Upon graduation from Bethany, she served as a translator/ interpreter at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, MD. After returning to Wheeling in 1957, Mrs. Ragni taught German, French, and English at the former Wheeling High School and later at the Linsly School. At Linsly, she served as the chairperson of our Foreign Language Department. 

In August 2012, Linsly trustee and alumnus, Mr. John Harmon '73 and his wife, Anne, launched the John and Anne Harmon Professional Development Series to honor distinguished Linsly faculty members. The recipient during the first year was Mrs. Ragni. 

A Celebration of Life service is planned for Saturday February 17, 2018 at 11:00 am, at St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church, 141 Kruger St., Wheeling WV, 26003 with Pastor R. Paul Schafer officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your favorite West Virginia charity.
