The Moral Compass

Young people who consistently do what is right develop the kind of character that is coveted in our ever-changing world. Linsly requires its students to not only do what is right, but to do it consistently.
(Sound Virtues and Morals: It's a Matter of Habit)

At Linsly, we believe that young people do not develop into responsible adults with a sound moral compass overnight. Rather, establishing a core of virtues is a matter of habit. Young people who consistently do what is right develop the kind of character that is coveted in our ever-changing world. That's why Linsly requires its students to not only do what is right, but to do it consistently.

From Dormitory Parents who set a standard of decency and respect, to Dorm Prefects who help younger students understand Linsly's standards, ours is a community based on a set of standards upheld by us all. The idea of consistently doing what is right is evident in a variety of school practices including our "No Quit" policy which requires students to complete all activities that they begin.

Additionally, all Linsly students, faculty, and Dormitory Parents are guided by the yearly theme. In recent years, themes have included "Be as you wish to seem," "Be true to your work, your word, and your friend," "Do what is right, even when no one is looking," and "Never, never, never, quit," to name a few.
