Seabright Named Varsity Golf Coach

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Joey Seabright as the Varsity Golf Team Coach starting in the 2022-2023 school year.
Seabright will follow in the footsteps of Linsly Golf Coach Mark Landini, who is wrapping up his 18th year as our Director of Alumni Affairs, and has been a great leader for Linsly’s varsity golf program for the past five seasons.
In four of those five seasons under Landini’s leadership, the Linsly golf team has finished the season ranked in the top two positions in the OVAC class standings, including an OVAC Championship in the fall of 2020.
According to Linsly Athletic Director, Mr. B.J. Depew, Landini, a 1986 graduate of Linsly, recognizes and develops talent in the young men and women he coaches.
“He can also recognize talent in the coaches he works with,” said Depew. “Coach Landini saw that our middle school golf coach, Joey Seabright, was ready to make the move to the varsity level and that he was the right coach for the future of Linsly Golf.”
Coach Joey Seabright is a 2008 graduate of Wheeling Central Catholic and a 2012 graduate of West Liberty University, where his playing career drew attention and accolades galore.   In high school, Seabright was a part of four OVAC championship winning teams and was the individual medalist for three of them. His teams qualified for the WVSSAC State Tournament all four years and won the team title in 2004 and 2006.  Seabright was the individual medalist in the 2006 and 2007 state tournaments.
At West Liberty University, while playing for Coach Mike Ricci, Seabright won three events, earned first team all-conference as a junior and then went on to finish his college career by becoming the 2012 WVIAC Player of the Year and the West Liberty University Male Athlete of the Year in 2012.
His successful playing career did not stop after graduating from college. Tournament wins in the Bordas and Bordas Amateur Golf Tournament and multiple wins in Tri-State PGA events are among his more recent accomplishments.  At Linsly, Seabright has coached basketball and baseball along with middle school golf over the last three years.
“He is ready and excited to become the new head varsity coach for Linsly Golf, and we are pleased to have him join our us at the varsity level,” said Depew.
Landini has coached a variety of sports over his Linsly career as well and will continue to work in Linsly’s golf program.
Depew explained, “Coach Landini will take over the middle school program for his colleague for this upcoming season and work to develop the younger talent in our school, but he also intends to attend matches and assist Coach Seabright from time to time.  Coach Landini has thoroughly enjoyed his time as Linsly’s head golf coach and he is excited for Coach Seabright to have this opportunity to lead our program forward.”
