In times like these, it is easy to forget just how fortunate we are. While we are encouraged to stay home from school, away from athletics and normal activities, it is easy to grow frustrated and discouraged. As athletes and as parents, we focus on the opportunities that are being missed. It is human nature to do so. Despite all of these feelings, we have to keep our heads up and look forward to the opportunities that lie ahead with patience and faith.
At this time, we want to take a moment to celebrate the time that we had and the opportunities we were blessed to have been given. Our fall athletes were to be honored last month at the Fall Sports Ceremony which had to be canceled due to state regulations and in an effort to make difficult, but safe decisions for everyone involved. With the current conditions in our county and state, we know that the Fall Sports Ceremony cannot be rescheduled in the foreseeable future.
Much like we had to do last winter, we want to take this opportunity to publicly celebrate our fall athletes, share some comments from our coaches and recognize the special award winners for each sport. The collective efforts of our athletes, coaches, parents, athletic trainers, health services, maintenance crew, bus drivers and everyone who works behind the scenes has never been stronger or more appreciated than it is right now. Together, we managed to have some sense of normalcy during the roller coaster ride that was the fall season.
Thank you to everyone who made it possible. We hope to publicly honor our fall sports programs the best we can with this small presentation. We look forward to the restart of Linsly Athletics on January 11th and we wish each of you a happy and healthy holiday season and a new year filled with more and more opportunities.
