Growing up in the Ohio Valley, he was fortunate to be able to attend The Linsly School from the 8th to the 12th Grade. Mr. Zitzelsberger was a day student and his sister, Ashley, joined the Linsly community as an 11th grader. Mr. Zitzelsberger’s father was a long-time public school educator and understood the importance of a college-prep education with character development attached. As a 2002 graduate of The Linsly School, Mr. Zitzelsberger enjoyed playing football, basketball and baseball. In addition to his athletic achievements, he enjoyed the art show, Extravaganza, school plays and the outdoor experience, as well as being a prefect.
After Linsly, Mr. Zitzelsberger attended Washington and Jefferson College where he lettered four years in football. He received is undergraduate degree in Business Administration/Economics. Following graduation, Mr. Zitzelsberger earned his Master’s Degree from West Virginia University in Educational Leadership.
Mr. Zitzelsberger has been recruiting students now for 14 years as he began his working career as a football coach and then maneuvered into the admissions world. Mr. Zitzelsberger served as Director of Enrollment at Bethany College for over 3 years prior to returning to The Linsly School. Mr. Zitzelsberger joined the Admissions Office in May of 2013.
At Linsly, Mr. Zitzelsberger enjoys interacting with the students and watching all the students pursue their passions. The relationships between student and faculty/coach at Linsly are very dear to him. He serves as an Assistant Varsity Girls’ basketball coach and has coached football in the past. Mr. Zitzelsberger resides on Linsly’s campus with his wife, Caroline (Palmer), and the three boys, R.J. IV, Charlie and Palmer. He loves the boarding community and living amongst the 100 boarders. His favorite part about living on campus is inviting boarders over for pizza and watching sports. During his free time, Mr. Zitzelsberger enjoys watching his boys play sports and golfing.
