The Linsly Parent Association

The Linsly Parent Association, known as the LPA, is an active organization with membership open to all Linsly parents. There is no signing or joining fee. As a matter of fact, you are already a member if your child attends Linsly!

To keep informed about our activities, check the updated news link located at the bottom left of this page, or on the main portal page (and, once there, sign-in for even more school news and information).

The LPA undertakes many projects throughout the year:

  • organize and staff the Used Book and Clothing Sale
  • host Welcome Meetings for new parents to answer questions and ease their minds
  • greet the new parents at orientation
  • organize a Steak Fry for all parents to socialize with each other and the faculty
  • man and organize concession stands at sporting events
  • host the December Holiday Cookie Party for the students
  • bake birthday cakes for boarding students
  • prepare two Teacher Appreciation buffets for faculty and staff

As you can see, the LPA has been fortunate to be able to give a large sum of money back to the school each year. The LPA asks for your help again for the coming year. If you can not volunteer your time but want to help, a donation is acceptable. You may address any correspondence to the LPA, 60 Knox Lane, Wheeling, WV 26003. Any money donated is kept separate from the Linsly Annual Fund. All money is given to the students directly.

The Wish List

Your support by volunteering to work at the concession stands and several activities helps provide funds for the Wish List. Each year teachers request items that would make their classrooms more vital and productive. The funds to provide these items come from concession stand sales, and the Used Clothing and Book Sale. As a group, the LPA and the Headmaster decide which requests are most beneficial to the students. Please volunteer to help in working concession stands as this is where most funds are raised and where the most help is needed. Although we raise these funds at athletic events, please understand that this money does not go to the Athletic Department -- it goes to all areas of the school to benefit all Linsly Students. Recent items donated by the LPA include:

  • New bedding for Nurses Station
  • Money for Senior Week and After Prom
  • Stage Platforms
  • Send two boys and two girls to Boys/Girls State
  • Smart Boards for several classrooms
  • Elmo Projector System for English Department
  • Camcorders 
  • CD's and Tape Players for various Depts
  • Laminator
  • Magazines on CD for the Library
  • Signage for the Linsly Campus
  • TV/VCR's for various classrooms
  • Digital Cameras

Parents of Football Players and Cheerleaders

There will be a meeting Saturday, Sept. 11 at 1:00 p.m. prior to the football game to discuss the tailgate for October 9th. The location of the meeting is the Stifel Field House on Linsly's campus.

Please Join us for Parents' Day

On behalf of the faculty and staff of Linsly, Headmaster Chad Barnett invites all Linsly parents to join us for Parents’ Day, to be held Saturday, September 18, 2010.  Parents’ Day offers families an opportunity to meet their sons’ and daughters’ teachers, learn more about school-wide learning initiatives, and connect with other Linsly families. 

Please download the Parents’ Day agenda, which shows a full day of activities beginning with a reception at 8:00 AM in the cafetorium and concluding with a reception at 3:30 PM at Mr. Barnett's home.
